Questions, answered straight.
Phone answering questions
we hear most.
Will callers know they are talking to an AI?
We recommend it introduces itself as your virtual assistant, and most callers are fine with that once they get a straight answer immediately instead of voicemail. It speaks naturally, handles interruptions and does not read from a phone menu. If a caller asks for a person, or the conversation goes somewhere it should not handle, it takes a message or transfers the call to you.
Does it sound like a robot, or does it sound like a New Zealander?
It sounds like a person, with a New Zealand voice and New Zealand phrasing. That matters more than people expect: callers hang up on an accent that clearly is not local, in the same way they hang up on an offshore call centre. We tune the voice, pace and wording with you before it ever answers a real customer.
What does an AI phone answering service cost in NZ?
It is a one-off setup to build and train it on your business, plus a monthly fee covering the phone minutes, hosting and ongoing tuning. We quote after a free audit rather than off a rate card, because the right build depends on your call volume and what it needs to handle. Unlike a per-call answering service, the monthly cost does not climb every time your phone rings more.
Can it book jobs into our existing calendar or software?
Yes, that is usually the point of it. It checks live availability and writes the booking straight into the system you already run, whether that is Google Calendar, your CRM or your job management tool. It can also look up live data mid-call, like stock or pricing, so callers get a real answer rather than a call back.
What happens to calls it cannot handle?
You decide the boundaries up front. Anything outside them becomes a warm transfer to you, or a message with a full summary of the call sent by text or email. It is built to never invent a price or an answer. A clean handover beats a confident wrong answer every time.
How is this different from a human phone answering service?
A human answering service takes a message and passes it on. They do not know your prices, your stock or your calendar, so the customer still waits for a call back and you still do the work. An AI phone answering service is trained on your business specifically, answers the actual question, and books the job on the call. It also answers every call at once, at 2am, without a per-call fee.
How long until it is live?
Most builds go live within one to three weeks of go-ahead. We build it, test it against real call scenarios with you, and run it alongside your existing setup before it takes live calls. You hear it and sign it off before any customer does.
Who builds and supports it?
The two of us. Jarod Bunning and Jared Lean scope, build and support every project personally. There are no account managers and no handoffs, so when you want the wording changed or a new question handled, you talk to the person who built it.
